Brinkley Morgan Announces Jodi Furr Colton as Chair of the Family Law Department
Brinkley Morgan is pleased to announce that Partner Jodi Furr Colton has been appointed as Chair of the firm’s Family Law Department. In this role, Ms. Colton will lead the firm’s Family Law practice, continuing its strong tradition of excellence in serving clients and families throughout South Florida. She succeeds Jonathan Schiller.
As Chair of the Family Law Department, Ms. Colton will oversee the department’s attorneys across Brinkley Morgan’s offices and support the continued growth and development of the firm’s family law practice.

Brinkley Morgan is widely recognized for its expertise in marital and family law matters, including high-net-worth divorce, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, mediation, collaborative divorce, division of marital assets, alimony and child support, parental responsibility and timesharing, and post-divorce enforcement and modification. The firm also maintains robust real estate and estate and trust litigation practices, advising clients on the purchase, sale, financing, development, and leasing of commercial and residential properties, and representing trustees, fiduciaries, beneficiaries, and family businesses in complex estate, trust, and fiduciary disputes.
Ms. Colton’s practice focuses exclusively on complex family law matters, including divorce, equitable distribution, parental responsibility (i.e., custody), timesharing, paternity, and prenuptial agreements. She is also a Florida Supreme Court Certified Family Law Mediator and an Accredited Collaborative Attorney.

Prior to joining Brinkley Morgan, Ms. Colton began her legal career in the New York office of Latham & Watkins and practiced at large firms in Philadelphia and Minneapolis, where she handled a broad range of litigation matters in federal and state courts. She draws on this background in commercial litigation to assist clients in sophisticated family law cases involving the valuation and equitable distribution of financial and business assets, including closely held corporations, professional practices, real estate holdings, deferred compensation plans, and stock plans.
She is AV Preeminent® rated by Martindale-Hubbell and has been consistently recognized by Best Lawyers in America and Florida Super Lawyers. Ms. Colton is active in the legal community and currently serves as Chair of the Fifteenth Judicial Circuit Local Professionalism Panel, as well as Co-Chair of the Florida Academy of Collaborative Professionals’ Membership Committee.
Ms. Colton earned her Juris Doctor from Harvard Law School and her Bachelor of Arts from Swarthmore College.
